This painting is by Baba Ly, a contemporary artist based in Senegal.

He was introduced to painting by his father Amadou Dédé Ly, from his studio in the Arts Village in Dakar.  After four years of apprenticeship in plastic arts, Mahmoud Baba Ly now offers his own creations.  In 2008, he participated in a competition of the Cuomo Monte Carlo Foundation and won the special jury prize.  Since then he has sold his art and exhibited in France, Turkey and the United States.
