"Naos" by Yannick Bourgeois, Original Oil Painting, African Painting, Contemporary Art, Wall Art
This painting is by Yannick Bourgeois, a contemporary artist based in Senegal.
Born in Paris, Yannick was introduced to oil painting in the early 2000s. Abstract lyrical compositions combining shapes and colors in the search for harmony constitute the bulk of her work. They allow her to express feelings, emotions and give free rein to her imagination. Painting is a need, a necessity, a form and a means of expression essential to its balance. Yannick participated in several collective exhibitions in Italy before exhibiting her work for the first time in Rome in 2016. She continued her artistic career in South Africa until 2020. Arriving in Senegal in 2021, seduced and fascinated by the elegance of the movements and the bright colors of the clothes worn by women in the markets, in the fields and in the villages, in their multiple tasks, she decided to devote a series of paintings to them which are as many stylized illustrations of scenes from their daily life.
